Despite what so many so called 'trainers' will tell you, you can actually achieve a nice lean and toned body without ever lifting any weights.
Examples of this can be found in gymnastics, all of their bodies are toned and the men are ripped as well. How can you explain this if they do not do any weight lifting at all in their training? Because what they do use is bodyweight workouts. They use their own bodyweight for resistance instead of weights.
Plus the best part of bodyweight exercises is that you can do them anywhere and at anytime because the whole world is your gym equipment!
Let's take a look at some great bodyweight exercises you can do anytime, anywhere:
Pushups:
The most common and well known bodyweight exercise. This has been the staple training for people for thousands of years, because it works. The best part of pushups is that you can vary them for differing degrees of workout.
For example moving your hands into a diamond shape will work out your triceps, while you can go nuts and use spiderman and alligator pushups to really get the muscles pumping.
Pullups:
Again one of the most well known bodyweight exercise, but this is well known for a reason! People wouldn't have been performing them all these years if it did not work.
As with pushups you can vary how you perform pullups to target different muscles or to have a much more strenuous workout. Next time you are doing your pullups change how far apart your hands are and see how much of a different experience that is for you.
As you can see even with the two most common bodyweight workouts you can still mix it up and have a great varied workout without any of the big weights you see in the gym.
